These were the most awesome aviation events in 2017

Purchasing the right aircraft or aviation equipment is quite a difficult task. You can’t simply browse Amazon or go to the mall like you do with everyday products. That’s why there are aviation exhibitions and trade fairs – and these events are worth a mint. Seeing and comparing hundreds, sometimes thousands of exhibitors and their products at the same time and place is incredibly insightful and yeah, sometimes it even feels like a little shopping trip. So check out these events from 2017 that were a blast!

15th to 17th February in Singapore: Inter Airport South East Asia the world’s leading airport trade fair

The Inter Airport South East Asia is probably the most important airport exhibition in the world and therefore a must go for everyone in the airport business. The region is home to the world’s best airport and has a rapidly growing airport industry – the perfect place for this event. The Inter Airport covers issues like security, technology and equipment as well as design and services for many areas of airport business. One of many highlights of this expo: There will be a specialised GSE area with the best ground support equipment on the market.

Singapore is too long a trip? Visit the sister exhibitions in Europe or China!

6th to 9th March in Dallas, TX: HAI Heli-Expo by the Helicopter Association International – everything about helicopters, choppers & Co.

Let’s admit it: In aviation, it’s often solely about airplanes. But what about helicopters?

They have their very own expo. At this international trade show hundreds of exhibitors and dozens of thousands of visitors get together to discuss and find solutions for nearly every sector of the helicopter business: Maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities (MRO), fuel cells, ground power and support equipment, avionics, and many more. The Heli-Expo isn’t only a great opportunity to visit exhibition stands and explore the latest equipment, but there are also workshops and forums where you can meet other experts from your field.

HAI hosts the Heli-Expo annually, choosing another US city as its location each time.

28th to 30th March in Singapore: Ground Handling International – trade show and networking

Organized by the leading publication for the ground handling industry, the GHI is not only an exciting trade fair. It is an outstanding conference that gathers experts, decision makers, and pioneers working in ground handling, and therefore a mecca for innovation and networking. If ground operations or ground support equipment are parts of your job, this is the place to be. The program is not limited to speeches and exhibitions only. There are plenty of workshops you can attend and even one-to-one meetings so deals can be closed right at the conference – a brilliant business opportunity.

Just like the Inter Airport, the Ground Handling International too has similar events around the globe: the Americas GHI Conference in Miami, the African GHI Stakeholders’Conference in Johannesburg and the Ground Damage Stakeholders’ Conference in Belfast.

25th to 27th April in Orlando, FL: MRO Americas – where the aviation maintenance industry meets

The Aviation Week Network isn’t only a publisher of several sector specific print magazines. It also organises industry related events around the world. Its MRO series is “the largest event series dedicated to the aviation maintenance industry” and is hosted in Latin America, Europe and Dubai as well as in East Asia and the Baltics. Click here for all the different dates and locations. This is the chance for anyone working in maintenance, repair and overhaul to explore the latest development of this industry, see plenty of equipment live in action, and meet both customers and experts.

22th to 24th May in Geneva: European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition – business aviation expo by the NBAA

Organized by the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) and the US National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), the EBACE is a red-letter day – or rather three days. On the one hand this convention focuses exclusively on business aviation, but in return it covers nearly every aspect of it, making it a convenient opportunity for entrepreneurs. The compound of conference and exhibition makes it a perfect place to plan the future of your aviation business.

The National Business Aviation Association is quite international after all – it hosts three similar conventions around the globe: The Asian Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (ABACE), the Latin American Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (LABACE)home to the world’s best airport and eventually the American version, the NBAA-BACE.

19th to 25th June in Le Bourget: International Paris Air Show – traditional, spectacular, huge

The International Paris Air Show takes place in the little village of Le Bourget, northeast of Paris, and is the largest aerospace show in the world. The thrill of anticipation is even bigger as it is hosted biennially, so you don’t want to miss it in 2017. At this trade show quantity is also a sign of quality. Seven days, 150 aircrafts (in the air and on the ground), more than 2000 exhibitors, and hundreds of thousand of visitors make it an all-industry event. There is nearly no field in aviation left out at this expo, from on-board equipment systems over airport services to cabin fittings.

Since it’s an air show of course you get to see aircrafts in action. For example like this:

21st to 24th May in Bangkok: IATA Ground Handling Conference – the premier ground handling industry conference in the world

Before and after there is a flight there comes ground handling. That is why this conference concentrates exclusively on ground service, ground support equipment, and everything else concerning ground operations. It is the perfect forum to learn the latest industry developments and discuss them with hundreds of other professionals – and therefore an ideal business and networking opportunity. It’s hardly surprising that 95% of participants would recommend the IGHC.

Conclusion to the expos and trade shows of 2017

Exhibitions are a great opportunity to keep up to date, and meet new customers, colleagues and business partners. To achieve that you don’t have to visit each and every trade fair but rather pick the ones that suit your purpose best and push you and your business forward.
