revolutionary Finding innovative solutions out of necessity

Mototok was founded in 2003 by Kersten Eckert, avid aviator and creator of the mototok, and his friend and partner Thilo Wiers-Keiser.

Fuelled by passion

The invention of our aircraft tugs is a deeply personal story that began with Kersten Eckert’s first solo flight at 18, and his growing aggravation about a process efficient-minded Eckert considered far from ideal: Maneuvering the aircraft while on the ground. You know the rigmarole: Waiting for the machine being laboriously transported out of the hangar, depending on having two or even three people available to watch his wings and fuselage, needing a pilot to sit inside the aircraft ready to brake if needed… Eckert became determined on finding not only a better, but the perfect way in terms of space, speed, and effort.

Creating the Perfect Product

5 years of detail-oriented developing time later, the first Mototoks hit the market: Battery-powered industrial tugs providing an all-round view around the aircraft by high technology remote control, operated by a single person.

By now, there are Mototoks available for all aircrafts up to 250 tons. They are in use by international FBOs, MROs, aircraft manufacturers, special forces, airports, airlines, navy, military, industrial companies, businessmen and individuals with their own fleet.

Made in Germany Innovation meets reliability

Top Quality Materials.
Handpicked components of highest quality equip our products for heavy usage and guarantee their reliably sustainable stable value.

German Engineering.
Inventive genius aimed at smooth functionality, German perfectionism and detail orientation aimed at your advantage: After 5 years of development time, our tugs flaunt technological approaches that are virtually unheard-of.

Unlike conventional tractors, our electrical tugs are virtually maintenance free and capable of withstanding the toughest conditions - no troublesome oil changes, universal joints or air filters.

Green Good for the environment and staff alike

Extremely powerful electrical motors are an environmentally-conscious alternative to gas- or diesel-powered conventional tugs. Being AC permanent magnet brushless, they require no maintaining.

No Emissions.
Working silently and without unsavoury exhaust fumes, our no-emission towbarless aircraft tugs enable the tug to be safely operated inside a closed hangar.

Convenient charging.
Potent gel batteries ensure long operating times up to several days. The quickest charging times industry-wide and no need for special electrical requirements ensure smooth operations.

So how does it work? simple. safe. and extremely effective.

Operating procedure

    How Mototok steers …

The steering of a Mototok is performed through different rotating speed of both processor-controlled wheel-hub motors. These carefully control the torque proportionally to each of the drive wheels.

Operating procedure

A perfect turn on the spot is naturally no problem: one motor rotates forwards, the other backwards. Both motors recognise rotational resistance and carry out a precise turning manoevre.

Loading procedure

How Mototok loads the aircrafts nose gear

The engaging procedure can be started automatically by pressing just one button on the remote control.

Loading procedure

Drive the Mototok with opened hydraulical door and lowered platform towards the nose gear of the aircraft until the nose wheel touches the sliding table. Simply press a button on the remote control.

Loading procedure

    The hydraulical door closes …

… and clamps the nose wheel with a specified pressure.

Loading procedure

The platform lifts up and raises the nose gear.

Loading procedure

The securing paddles lowers down and clamps the nose wheel gently and safely – ready for moving the aircraft. The whole procedure takes about 10-15 seconds.

With competition and financial pressure getting stronger, you simply have to improve your workflow. And you have to keep improving. Let us help you with that.
